The institutions did a great job of marking this market up into the year end - we put nearly 4% on in the past day and a half. If the 3 PM shenanigans return they might even be able to tack on more and as I stated this weekend mark the market up >5% to get it to 920 on Dec 31st at 4 PM. I wrote in this weekend's summary

Now if I were a cynic, I'd still cling to my year end "mark up" theory - that is hedge funds using the last few days to push the market up to make their books look a lot better than they are.

So within a range of 850 to 920 we're at the lower end and a nice 3 days push of 5%...

Being a cynic, I continue to believe the hedge funds manipulate ... err, buy this market up through Dec 31st. By that date I want to be very heavy into cash - but until then we still want to err on the long side unless we break back below that S&P 820-840 level.

With that said, I am going to take profits when offered and give up some upside if we do in fact continue upward. The reason is, this market is going up on nothing but hope. The cold facts are going to be ugly (but hey good news Wells Fargo is offering a 4.875% 30 year mortgage - can't wait to see a 3.875% mortgage - why not free ...

Life Partners Holdings (LPHI) is only followed by one analyst so this "pre-announcement" is versus a sole opinion. That said, more important than beating any analyst's guess are the growth metrics which seem to be completely sheltered from the economic storm. I am cutting Life Partners Holdings (LPHI) in half as it now approaches its 50 day moving average - unfortunately when we entered this stock the chart was tremendous but just our luck the moment we began buying it broke down. Without having the ability to have stop losses in Marketocracy.com, by the time I noticed this thinly traded stock was already down 10%ish so instead, I added to the position as it approached its 200 day moving average (mid $20s), so at least the average cost was lowered. In fact it ended up being one of our top 5 positions due to this maneuver.
