CFO quits, CEO is only sticking around until October.  2 sure signs of a struggeling company.

Shuffle Master (SHFL) announced dissapointing earnings yesterday and dropped nearly 10% today. But instead of negative comments from the CEO and analysts both were positive as Shuffle Master tries to integrate new aquisitions and move toward a leasing business model instead of sale. The transition is hitting short term earnings but I believe if you stay with the stock you’ll see the company have consistent earnings in the future.

This stock has been the biggest dissapointment in you Mayor’s portfolio but I think it may be time to add more. Let’s go through the positives.

I have a soft spot for Shuffle Master (NASDAQ: SHFL). A few years back, I owned the stock when it was in its growth phase and made a little money on it. Now, though, the gambling entity's shares are stuck in $5-land, and it's truly been a terrible stock.

Well, on Monday, Shuffle Master reported earnings for the third quarter after the market closed. In a relative sense, the numbers weren't too bad, but at the same time, they in no way make me want to buy the stock. And believe me, I have been waiting for the day when data will reveal that Shuffle Master is a buy

Back in May 2005, the SEC began releasing comment letters on its site. But three years later, the system still doesn’t quite work because the only time they become available on the SEC site is after whatever issue the SEC is concerned about has already been resolved.

I thought about this while reading the revised 10K that Shufflemaster (SHFL) filed late yesterday. In the explanatory note, the company notes that it is revising a number of its footnotes in response to an SEC comment letter on the 10K, as well as on the company’s first quarter Q and proxy statements.

Shuffle Master's (NASDAQ: SHFL) shares are up over 12% at the time of this writing in Monday's after-hour sessions on earnings news. Revenues for the supplier to the casino industry increased 10% to $49 million in the second quarter.
